Everyone struggles to get a good night’s sleep at times, but when it becomes a consistent pattern over a sustained period of time the effects can be really unpleasant and can actually have consequences for your overall health and well-being.
Why do we need a good night’s sleep?
For a start, important hormones are released at night that help our bodies to grow and repair, which is why children and young adults tend to need more sleep than adults. However, that is not to say that adults can necessarily get away with surviving on just 5 or 6 hours of sleep per night because we also need to sleep for a sustained period in order to enter into REM sleep, a stage of sleep that it’s believed most adults enter into 4-5 times every night. Neuroscientists suggest that REM sleep helps us to process and store the events of the day, which is why we can often wake having ‘shelved’ an issue that was bothering us the evening before or we may well have come up with a solution for a problem that has been bothering us for a while.
Poor sleep can result in all sorts of miserable consequences, such as, poor concentration, low mood, lack of sound judgement, a short temper, memory problems, sugar cravings and more!
Hypnotherapy can help you to sleep better and positive results can be achieved in a short space of time. You will wake feeling more rested and refreshed, which will make you feel more positive and energised.
